I agree with most of the points presented here. As a Mario 64 veteran I can't help but think "skill issue" at times lmao but I get that playing for the first time is very different and can sometimes feel very crude. But overall, I feel these issues are very small in comparison to the whole game. I would say the biggest issues are the camera of course and the final two levels (which you can skip) and even then there's a whole lot of game that is great. Saying it is bad for these things is way too much imo.

I think the localization team got the names of the Marsh and Soul Badges mixed up. Soul would make more sense as the Psychic-type badge and Marsh the Poison one.

Yeah. As much as I love this game, the camera and controls are intolerable at times. There'll be moments where I'll think that I'll land on a platform, only to hit the wall and die. This is especially challenging on levels like Hazy Maze Cave or Shifting Sand Land.

2 things: 1. Instead of making a new way to hold multiple subs, just use Splatoon’s story mode’s thingy. Up, left, and right button are used as hotkeys to switch between different subs. 2. Ink automatically regenerates. I’m serious. Google it.

1:44 Legend badge is perfectly fine. It's an abstraction. Stop overthinking it. Redesign sucked. 2:40 Wave badge fine. Redo is fine. 3:19 Preferred the original mineral badge. 3:50 Let us have some variety. Hives are yellow not 5:17 to redesign the cobble badge you just needed to taper in the orange bits towards the short end to make it clearer they're crossing fists. Add a tiny square or diamond for the thumb to make it crystal clear.

Wow, these redesigns were consistently a downgrade across the board. I mean you hate circles, but then turned the psychic badge into a galaxy (which is a circle).

Got to 194 stars and all i can say is , Who ever invented stomp on a thwomp needs therapy that kind of abuse is not okay.

I actually rather like the Legend badge and how it is a bit abstract and up for interpretation. To me I always sort of just saw it as a sort of explosion, blast, with the long spike being there to either make it fit with the rest of the vertical badges or it being like it's originating from a dragon's mouth like the move Dragon Rage, that sort of explosion/attack being the reason for the red circle. For the matter of the black and grey I always saw it as black and white but they didn't want it to clash too much and instead went for more cohesion. I found it cool that the last gym badge you got, (at least in the first black and white) had some of the theming of the game in it, contrast but in being part of the same thing together cohesively. Which also fit with the town and gym leader, with the town either seeming more in the future with an older gym leader Drayden or more in the past with a youngster gym leader Iris, with Iris being Drayden's daughter and him being her dad really showcasing the contrast and cooperation. Though I do think that the badge would look cooler if they went for a more standing out and contrasting white even if it went a little bit against the color scheme.

Trust me i tried asking friends who dont play pokemon with that pyshcic badge in Kalos and they said Ghost or Poison and had no idea it was psychic

I gotta say the first badge you changed in the video was perfect the way it was; the redesign feels like a downgrade despite being a solid design The original i think despite being a little vague still elicited the vibe of a dragon; just because there isn't a consensus on exactly what doesn't mean it's not that; The other badges of the region feel like they play around in that space where they are just a bit more abstract The redesign itself isn't bad but it feels... like it lost something i can't define specifically

I got all stars when I was 13, did I just blame myself for the games terrible controls or were they actually better on an N64?

When I started playing the game, I started off quite positive. However, as I continued, it just got worse and worse, and it all ended with rainbow ride. Rainbow fucking ride. I hate rainbow tide so much I genuinely think it's the worst level in gaming history. I would rather play the entirety of bubsy 3d than play Rainbow Ride ever again. But you want to know where I think the game peaked? Bowser in the fire sea is the best level in 64. Everything in the level makes sense, it doesn't have any bs stars, and it's actually interesting. Mario 64 is genuinely one of my most hated games of all time. I wanted to give up so much throughout my playthrough which is a rarity (I've 100% X7. I am very stubborn)
